It is in fact Cinco de Mayo folks or better known as the day where it’s entirely acceptable to drink a pitcher of margarita’s … Cinco de drinko. So you didn’t make a reservation for your crew but do not worry there are still a number of spots in this city where you can snag a seat and a great rita though who knows you may wind up at a rooftop party with a donkey piñata named Carols in tow …
Happy Cinco de Mayo! xx
Tacombi – Any place serving up tacos out of an old VW mini van is right up my alley.
Tijuana Picnic – The name alone should sell you in on this one. Bar downstairs serves up an insanely delicious spicy ‘rita and the tacos are spot on. Doesn’t hurt that there’s a DJ and pretty cute bartenders either! (Side note, I am personally a big fan of this place because I hosted my birthday dinner here and the staff and food were both so amazing that I will continue to give love to these folks!)
Salavation Taco – This spot will inevitably have a crazy wait but it’s worth it – the tacos from April Bloomfield are heavenly.
Rosie’s – Delicious mexican in the east village. Snag their watermelon ‘ritas for sure!
Ofrenda – A local fave of mine in the neighborhood – insane guac and a refreshing cucumber ‘rita. Nothing better.
Diablo – $30 pitchers of margaritas or Ricky’s in the west village? Just do it because you know you’re friends will be there too.
Tequila … errrr I mean Tortilla Flats – Yes this will be crowded beyond belief but you can always count on good music, mediocre food, a ‘rita and a good time.
Black Ant – This spot has a surprisingly awesome smoky jalapeño margarita that needs to be had.
Cafe de la Esquina – While I’m not a huge fan of the Manhattan spot because it’s overrun by tourists I am a big advocate for their Brooklyn outpost. Great food, amazing vibe and strong drinks. Done.
Mesa Coyoacan – This Williamsburg little spot is fantastic and slightly off the radar.
