Giving the Head-wrap a Go

Lulu frost bumble and bumble , head wrap, braidsI recently attended a fun little warm weather kick-off event at the amazing Bumble & Bumble salon in the Meatpacking District hosted along with the ever lovely Lulu Frost to launch her brand new Spring-Summer head wrap collection. The designer herself, Liza Selzer, was on hand dishing on styling tips, talking about her latest collection and talking about the newest headwrap collection, which come to find out is a project very near and dear to her. I’ve had a minor obsession with every piece that Liza and her team have produced and rest assured this headwrap collection is no different. I couldn’t make a decision to save my life on which one of the three new patters to pick so had to bring in the big guns and poll my wonderful friends who were there with me. I went with the Palm Beach print {obviously} since it incorporates a bright pink!

The best part of my night might have been when Bumble & Bumble’s lead stylist whipped up a very chic milkmaid-esque braid using the headwrap in no lie less than 5 minutes. People, it was 5 minutes well spent as I have likely never received so many compliments on my hair in my life (though it didn’t hurt that he wove in the headwrap beautifully!) Want to attempt it for yourself? I’ve included a near step-by-step tutorial below because I know that if I was able to recreate the look then you will too.

First, give your hair a bit of texture, we sprayed in Bumble & Bumble A bit Blondish to do the trick (and honestly absorb a little of that natural oil!)

Second, split hair into two sections as you would with any braid. Lay the headwrap horizontally across the back of your neck and begin braiding down and out with on side. Note, act as though the headwrap is a section of hair.

Next, wrap the first braid over your head as you would do when creating a milkmaid braid. Use a few bobby pins strategically to secure.

Repeat on the other side and spray with a touch of Does it All hairspray to ensure it holds.
